coComment V2 launch started

July 31st, 2007

We have started the migration to coComment V2.

The initial step consists of a huge update of our live database.

Although this does not affect the functionalities of the current production site running coComment V1, you might experience some slow response times from the service.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is worth it ! ;-)

hmmm… seems like you broke it nevertheless. i cannot post comments — only disabling helps. and also google analytics is broken since the plugin was installed.

I am experiencing all the same problems as you guys. I can only assume that these problems will be cleared up once the migration is complete.

It was working flawlessly a few moments ago. I’m not sure what happened. I’ve noticed that the site has regressed back to V1 and now I can’t login. I already grabbed the updated FIrefox extension so I’m guessing it is just a waiting game…

I don’t like the interface of V2. Not as simple as V1.

  10. Matt Says:

Promise you, it’s actually simpler … there are less clicks to every major piece of functionality.

We have, I must confess, added quite a lot of functionality hence the appearance but, if you ignore that, you’ll find that the basic ‘My Conversations’ part is simpler than before and works better.

Let us know what you think after you’ve played with a bit longer … it is a BETA after all and we do welcome feedback. We’re not planning the full V2 release until September.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

hi matt. i’ve seen 37signals back up some of their recent changes with their own usability analysis, and i’d love to hear something similar from cocomment.

please tell us why the “My Conversations” page is simpler and more usable. i outlined several reasons why i think it is actually less usable, so won’t reiterate them here. but if you could react to some of the comments on the blog and tell us why you made certain choices, perhaps we’ll see the light.

    thanks.
