coComment 2.0 : On the way !
It’s always a tough decision as to whether to tell people you’re launching a new version of your product or to, instead, wait until it’s finished and unveil it with a flourish.
We’ve opted for the former for one simple reason; we want feedback and input into what we’re doing. Nicolas Dengler and I (Matt Colebourne) presented some of the mockups, ideas and concepts at the re:publica conference in Berlin. We got a good reaction to the overall concept but also some great ideas on the execution that will impact the product that we deliver.
If you’re an active coComment user please do let us know how you think the product should be developed and taken forward. We will also be offering a beta test programme to some users (you need to volunteer) to get early feedback on various aspects.
So, please do get in touch. Tell us what you like, what you don’t like and what you’d like to see in the near future.
Also, come and visit us at Next07 in Hamburg this week and Innovate Europe in Zaragoza. We’ll be there in our distinctive new T-Shirts !
Cheers,
Matt.

My biggest wish for 2.0 would be for the Firefox extension not to slow down the load time of every page in my browser. If possible, have the comment status icon refresh periodically in the background, instead of once for every page viewed in the browser.

Thanks for the comment Kevin. Will pass it on to the development team.

I would echo Kevin’s request. The addon also sometimes shows a notification when there’s no new comment to be seen so that should also be fixed. Finally, please make sure the “My Conversations” page is easier to browse. It’s not bad in it’s current form but it’s tricky to navigate. Something more ala Google Reader (keyboard shortcuts!) would be nice. Thanks!

Conversations from Blogger don’t show the blog names! Instead all the conversations are called “www.blogger.com: Blogger: A day in the life of Alcohol”. Please fix it or allow users to edit the name of the site/conversation.
I would use the BlogBox if I could choose which Tags to share in the box.
Is comment-level or tag-level privacy coming soon?
Is there a way to add a Tag later, if I forgot when I left the comment?
Thanks!

Also, the Firefox extension causes Yahoo mail not to work:

Bugfixes and enhancements I would request, in order of importance/urgency:
* Clean up memory leaks in extension/bookmarklet scripts
* Move code from in-page scripts into extension (for speed and security)
* Allow blacklisting of URLs based on wildcards (or even regular expressions!)
And of course I’d love to see improvements in your crawler’s comment capture/metadata capture.
